Trade Finance Options Expand for Paraguayan Exporters

Expanding access to working capital, enhancing transparency in export operations, and strengthening collateral management were the key themes of the 2025 Food Exporters Conference, where Finanex, in partnership with Control Union, presented innovative trade finance solutions designed to improve operational efficiency and transaction security for Paraguay’s food export sector.
During the event, Finanex showcased its pre-export and export financing solutions, specifically designed to meet the practical needs of international trade. These facilities can be repaid directly from export proceeds and are secured by financial warrants, providing exporters with a flexible and competitive alternative to traditional bank financing. Key benefits include no prepayment penalties and the ability to repay financing through gate-in containers or Bills of Lading, giving exporters greater flexibility, faster access to liquidity, and improved cash flow management.
Hiram Canela, Commercial Manager at Control Union, complemented the presentation by highlighting the company’s role as a strategic partner in the structuring, administration, and monitoring of collateral. He emphasized Control Union’s extensive experience in inventory monitoring, inspection, certification, and collateral management, as well as its operational support for warrant-based financing structures.
“Together with Finanex, we are offering financing solutions that combine strong financial capabilities with a robust collateral framework. Control Union provides traceability, independent oversight, and technical assurance throughout the entire transaction,” he said.
This collaboration demonstrates how technology, independent collateral management, and tailored trade finance solutions can help food exporters access capital more efficiently while reducing risk for all parties involved.

The event also served as an opportunity to introduce Finanex’s latest financing solutions for food exporters.
Ignacio Arambarri, CEO of Finanex, highlighted that the event provided an opportunity to showcase the company’s new products, designed to offer exporters greater flexibility in how they repay financing. These solutions, backed by financial warrants, have seen growing demand among exporters seeking more efficient alternatives to traditional financing.
“Our goal is to make these solutions available to both our long-standing clients and new companies across the sector, creating tangible opportunities for growth,” said Arambarri.
During the event, Finanex also shared the evolution of its business, having facilitated more than US$150 million in trade finance during its first four years of operation, with a strong focus on exports to Europe and Southeast Asia.
The company also highlighted its partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to support Paraguayan smallholder farmers through a US$14.5 million impact fund, which will be deployed through 2028.
Beyond the presentations, the event fostered direct conversations with exporters, who raised questions about financing alternatives, operational requirements, and expansion opportunities. These discussions helped strengthen relationships and build trust across the food export ecosystem—one of the primary objectives of the gathering.
